Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) is an intermediate in the production of titanium dioxide by the chloride process. It is a dense, colorless and highly volatile liquid.
Upon contact with air, it forms opaque clouds of hydrogen chloride (HCl) and titanium dioxide (TiO2).
