Sin embargo, los electrolizadores industriales consumen mucha energ\u00eda y requieren una gran inversi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Para sustituir este m\u00e9todo, investigadores canadienses y franceses aplicaron un mecanismo natural conocido como \u201cfotocat\u00e1lisis\u201d. En un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0927024820303020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estudio<\/a> conjunto del profesor My Ali El Khakani del Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) y un equipo del Institut de chimie et proc\u00e9d\u00e9s pour l\u2019\u00e9nergie, l\u2019environnement et la sant\u00e9 (ICPEES), el equipo desarroll\u00f3 electrodos especialmente dise\u00f1ados y estructurados que dividen las mol\u00e9culas de agua en ox\u00edgeno e hidr\u00f3geno utilizando la luz del sol.<\/p>\n<p>El TiO<sub>2<\/sub> fue la clave de este avance cient\u00edfico. El TiO<sub>2<\/sub> es un semiconductor conocido por ser fotosensible a la luz ultravioleta, pero \u00e9sta s\u00f3lo representa el 5% de la irradiaci\u00f3n solar.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo de investigadores trabaj\u00f3 en la composici\u00f3n at\u00f3mica del TiO<sub>2<\/sub> para ampliar su fotosensibilidad a la luz visible, lo que podr\u00eda permitir la producci\u00f3n de electrodos capaces de absorber hasta el 50% de la luz solar. Esto podr\u00eda hacer mucho m\u00e1s eficiente la producci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno \u201cverde\u201d sin electr\u00f3lisis.<\/p>\n<p>El hidr\u00f3geno \u201cverde\u201d es a menudo llamado el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/mikescott\/2020\/12\/14\/green-hydrogen-the-fuel-of-the-future-set-for-50-fold-expansion\/?sh=2801771a6df3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">combustible del futuro<\/a>.
