Chaque mois de juillet, pendant trois semaines, pr\u00e8s de 200 cyclistes parmi les plus performants parcourent plus de 3 000 kilom\u00e8tres pour tenter de remporter le prix le plus convoit\u00e9 dans l\u2019univers du cyclisme : le maillot jaune.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019ascension des Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es et des Alpes constitue un d\u00e9fi constant, les concurrents faisant parfois face \u00e0 des mont\u00e9es de 5 kilom\u00e8tres. Ajoutez \u00e0 cela une chaleur intense : ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les temp\u00e9ratures sur les routes du Tour ont d\u00e9pass\u00e9 les 50\u00b0C. En 2003, sous l\u2019effet de la chaleur, le goudron a m\u00eame fondu par endroits. Le coureur espagnol Joseba Beloki a ainsi d\u00e9rap\u00e9 sur le bitume collant et, dans sa chute, s\u2019est cass\u00e9 la jambe, le coude et le poignet.<\/p>\n<p>La distance, les mont\u00e9es et le soleil sont trois adversaires que chaque \u00e9quipe se doit de prendre au s\u00e9rieux. Les coups de soleil et les insolations sont des risques bien r\u00e9els, surtout en montagne. En altitude, l\u2019exposition aux rayons UV augmente d\u2019environ 10 % par kilom\u00e8tre grimp\u00e9. Lors du Tour 2017, c\u2019est \u00e0 la 17e \u00e9tape que les coureurs ont affront\u00e9 le sommet le plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 \u2013 le col du Galibier, situ\u00e9 \u00e0 2 645 m\u00e8tres d\u2019altitude. Cela repr\u00e9sente plus de 25 % d\u2019exposition aux UV par rapport au niveau de la mer.<\/p>\n<p>Un sportif professionnel d\u00e9cid\u00e9 \u00e0 tout donner pour gagner peut souffrir de fatigue, de baisse d\u2019\u00e9nergie et d\u2019hypoglyc\u00e9mie (surnomm\u00e9e \u201cfringale du cycliste\u201d), c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire une chute brutale du niveau de sucre dans le sang qui peut provoquer des vertiges. Et n\u2019oublions pas le risque suppl\u00e9mentaire li\u00e9 \u00e0 la surexposition aux rayons UV: celui du cancer de la peau.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abC\u2019est l\u00e0 que les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s r\u00e9flectives du dioxyde de titane r\u00e9v\u00e8lent toute leur utilit\u00e9, poursuit Mardle. Quand il s\u2019agit d\u2019\u00eatre performant par haute chaleur, tous les cyclistes \u2013 quel que soit leur niveau \u2013 exigent des \u00e9quipements l\u00e9gers et respirants con\u00e7us pour r\u00e9guler leur temp\u00e9rature corporelle. \u00c7a peut sembler \u00e9vident, mais plus un maillot ou un cuissard est fin et l\u00e9ger, moins il prot\u00e8ge des rayons UV. Bien entendu, la cr\u00e8me solaire a son utilit\u00e9, mais la transpiration l\u2019\u00e9limine progressivement.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Castelli s\u2019est donc concert\u00e9 avec ses fournisseurs de mat\u00e9riaux pour int\u00e9grer \u00e0 ses \u00e9quipements de cyclisme sp\u00e9cial montagne le principal ingr\u00e9dient actif de la cr\u00e8me solaire \u2013 le dioxyde de titane \u2013, et ce sous deux formes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abLa premi\u00e8re est un nano-fil tiss\u00e9 dans le polyester des shorts et des cuissards. Ensuite, nous rendons ces produits disponibles pour les cyclistes amateurs du monde entier.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En fait, les v\u00eatements comme les cuissards Inferno avec dioxyde de titane et les maillots Climber\u2019s 2.0 de Castelli sont probablement encore plus importants pour les millions de cyclistes amateurs des quatre coins du monde. Les professionnels effectuent leur course quotidienne \u00e0 plus de 40 km\/h en moyenne, mais les cyclistes occasionnels avancent deux fois moins vite \u2013 et p\u00e9dalent donc beaucoup plus longtemps.<\/p>\n<p>Prenez l\u2019\u00c9tape du Tour, par exemple. Pour des milliers de cyclistes amateurs, cette course est l\u2019occasion unique de p\u00e9daler sur une \u00e9tape de la Grande Boucle un jour avant le peloton de l\u2019\u00e9lite. En 2017, les organisateurs ont choisi Brian\u00e7on-Izoard, une route de 178 km qui se termine sur 14,7 km de d\u00e9nivel\u00e9. Cette \u00e9tape du Tour de France a \u00e9t\u00e9 remport\u00e9e par le Fran\u00e7ais Warren Barguil en 4 heures, 40 minutes et 33 secondes. La veille, le cycliste amateur vainqueur de l\u2019\u00c9tape avait atteint le sommet du col d\u2019Izoard en 13 heures, 02 minutes et 32 secondes, soit presque trois fois plus de temps. C\u2019est dire \u00e0 quel point les risques li\u00e9s aux rayons UV augmentent pour les cyclistes amateurs\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u00abComme ils passent plus de temps en selle, les cyclistes amateurs ont vraiment besoin d\u2019un t-shirt \u00e0 maillage ouvert hautement respirable, ajoute Mardle.
