Hines en 1911, deux ans avant la cr\u00e9ation de la premi\u00e8re ligne d\u2019assemblage par Henry Ford.<\/p>\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, cette invention nous semble couler de source, mais on ne saurait trop insister sur l\u2019\u00e9norme impact des lignes blanches sur la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re, qui aidant les usagers de la route \u00e0 respecter leurs voies, \u00e0 \u00e9viter les v\u00e9hicules qui roulent dans le sens contraire et les autres dangers.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019efficacit\u00e9 des lignes blanches utilis\u00e9es pour le marquage routier doit \u00e9norm\u00e9ment \u00e0 la chimie, et en particulier au dioxyde de titane. Les lignes blanches ne peuvent remplir leur fonction que si elles sont visibles de tous les usagers de la route, et ce en toutes circonstances. Le dioxyde de titane joue un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 dans cette visibilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Le dioxyde de titane fait en effet partie des substances blanches les plus vives au monde, et la mani\u00e8re dont il interagit avec la lumi\u00e8re permet d\u2019obtenir une excellente visibilit\u00e9 des marquages routiers, m\u00eame de nuit ou par mauvais temps, sous l\u2019effet des phares des v\u00e9hicules. En outre, des dosages bien plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s de sulfate de baryum sont n\u00e9cessaires pour obtenir un r\u00e9sultat comparable, ce qui fait du dioxyde de titane une solution plus \u00e9conomique, sans oublier le fait que la capacit\u00e9 d\u2019approvisionnement en dioxyde de titane est nettement sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celui du sulfate de baryum.<\/p>\n<p>Par cons\u00e9quent, le dioxyde de titane est le principal pigment blanc utilis\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui dans le monde pour cette application. Sans des marquages blancs brillants, des dispositifs d\u2019\u00e9clairage plus nombreux et plus perfectionn\u00e9s seraient n\u00e9cessaires, pour un co\u00fbt tr\u00e8s \u00e9lev\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>De nombreux pays stipulent des exigences sp\u00e9cifiques en termes de brillance, de visibilit\u00e9 et de clart\u00e9 des marquages routiers.<\/p>\n<p>Au sein de l\u2019UE par exemple, les marquages routiers doivent \u00eatre conformes \u00e0 des normes de performance minimales, en termes de luminance, de visibilit\u00e9 diurne ou nocturne, de r\u00e9sistance au d\u00e9rapage et de durabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Ces normes font sans doute partie des raisons pour lesquelles les normes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re n\u2019ont jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi efficaces qu\u2019aujourd\u2019hui. Depuis 2010, le nombre de morts sur les routes europ\u00e9ennes a chut\u00e9 de pr\u00e8s de 20 %5, et l\u2019UE a pour objectif de diviser par deux le nombre de victimes de la route entre 2010 et 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re r\u00e9sulte d\u2019une combinaison de diff\u00e9rents facteurs, notamment des v\u00e9hicules plus s\u00fbrs et une meilleure \u00e9ducation
