Safe handling of titanium dioxide

Good practices for handling and monitoring dust in the workplace

The titanium dioxide (TiO2) industry has always been committed to the safety of its employees and end-users. Manufacturers ensure the safe and secure handling of TiO2 in the workplace and have developed best practices, these include inter alia:

  • Undertaking regular risk assessments to identify processes and tasks that could generate dust;
  • Taking measures to prevent the release of dust or where that’s not possible, by using local exhaust ventilation;
  • Equipping employees with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE);
  • And frequent cleaning and maintenance of equipment in work environments.
